This week we took part in the International Compost Awareness Week activities at our school. Pupils from class VI.SA worked on creating clear information posters about vermicomposting, which we will also send to the competition. Their aim was to clearly explain how the process works, what goes into a composter and what the benefits of processing bio-waste with earthworms are. In class VI.SB we have been doing direct practice. We introduced our school composter to the pupils, explained the principles of its operation and together we did a classic maintenance to make sure our “hardworking inhabitants” were doing their best… and we also solved quiz questions, which can be accessed at Zero Waste Friends of the Earth – Spz.
The biggest success was the so-called earthworm tea.To make our product look professional, we created an original label with the pupils. At the circle we rounded off the activity by making seed bombs. We mixed good quality compost with clay and seeds of flowering plants, which we will soon “scatter” in the neighbourhood.
