Our school hosted the second annual AI Days 2.0 event, which aimed to show how artificial intelligence can be used meaningfully and creatively in the classroom. Over the course of a few days, pupils and teachers had the opportunity to experience teaching a little differently – experimenting with modern tools, discussing the possibilities of AI and trying out how AI can help with learning, creating and critical thinking.
The programme included demonstration lessons in various subjects. In computer science, pupils tried out how a simple educational app and even a 3D object can be created using a text-based assignment, realising that while AI can suggest solutions, the human remains the decision-maker and adjusts the outcome. In English lessons, students worked with a professional text prepared using AI, which helped them to better understand both the content and the language of the curriculum. In history, they again talked to an AI avatar of a historical figure and learned to distinguish between fact, opinion and information that needed to be verified.
During the AI days, pupils were also exposed to a variety of interactive activities and applications that showed that learning can be creative and playful. In computer science, for example, they designed their own online games and apps for younger pupils and discussed how artificial intelligence can help create digital solutions.
The programme also included a workshop for teachers focused on “vibe coding”, which showed that even without programming experience it is possible to use AI to create simple didactic applications and activities directly for teaching. The event concluded with a lecture on advanced ways of using AI in pedagogical practice, which presented concrete ways in which AI can help in preparing lessons, creating materials or working with data.
AI Days 2.0 confirmed that artificial intelligence can be an engaging learning partner in schools. However, the most important goal was not to show the technology itself, but to develop pupils’ ability to think, question, collaborate and critically evaluate the information that technology brings.
