This school year, the pupils of EA VIII took part in the Saffron Project, which is organized in cooperation with the Holocaust Education Trust Ireland (HETI) and the Museum of Jewish Culture in Bratislava. We plant yellow saffron to remember the one and a half million Jewish children who died during the Holocaust. The yellow colour of the flowers reminds us of the yellow star that Jews were forced to wear under the Nazis. The flowers remind us of all the children who died. Saffron flowers bloom in late January or early February in time for International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January).
