This school year, the pupils of EA VIII took part in the Saffron Project, which is organized in cooperation with the Holocaust Education Trust Ireland (HETI) and the Museum of Jewish Culture in Bratislava. During the implementation of the project, the pupils will deal with the issue of the Holocaust once a month in their history lessons. The students will share their knowledge and experience of the project on The Crocus Club Facebook page, which is managed by the HETI Foundation.

We plant yellow saffron to remember the one and a half million Jewish children who died during the Holocaust. The yellow colour of the flowers reminds us of the yellow star that Jews were forced to wear under the Nazis. The flowers remind us of all the children who died. Saffron flowers bloom in late January or early February in time for International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January).

The Saffron Project is about Holocaust remembrance and education, as well as raising awareness of the dangers of hatred, discrimination and prejudice. We hope that one day, children from all over the world will plant yellow saffrons in memory of the children who died during the Holocaust.
