Christmas-Micholas surprise for the little birds in the school arboretum

Last week we embarked on a lovely winter activity with the pupils of Year 6 – we prepared a Christmas and St Nicholas surprise for the little birds that visit our school arboretum.
We used a mixture of suitable seeds for the little birds that we had bought. As a base, we cut cardboard into different shapes, rubbed it with fat or a little honey, and then rolled it in the seeds. All we had to do was thread a string through and our “bird treats” were ready to hang. We didn’t forget about the apples, which we secured to the twigs, and we filled up the empty bird feeders as well. The pupils also prepared some treats for the little birds in their neighbourhood to take home.
