Every year our school organizes a charity event “Christmas Exchange”, the aim of which is to help socially or medically disadvantaged citizens. Covid broke this tradition for two years, but this school year we managed to return to organizing the exchange again. At this time, it is very important to be human and to think of others, and this is what we try to instill in our pupils.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the auction, we managed to collect a beautiful 2140,60€, which we decided to distribute as follows:
We donated 600€ to handicapped girls and women from the folklore ensemble Nezábudka, which is based in the Social Services Home in Tura. Another gift cheque in the amount of 400€ was donated to the family of Mr. Mikuláš Burgan, who as a father takes care of four school-age children. Material gifts worth 290,60€ (lego building blocks, MP3 players and headphones) were taken to the crisis centre Náruč – help for children in crisis in Zádubní. And the last donation of 850€ from us was given to the little fighter Lukáško Lopčiansky, who has been struggling with many medical diagnoses since birth and is greatly helped by rehabilitation stays at the Adeli centre in Piešt’any.
Let me take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all the staff, teachers and educators who participated in organizing this event, creating products for the sales booths or made the pre-Christmas atmosphere more pleasant with their program. Thank you, parents, who also contributed with your active participation, financial support and home-made goodies. And last but not least, thank you to our pupils who showed that their hearts are in the right place and that they are no strangers to helping the weak and the sick.
It was a great pleasure for me to hand over these gifts on behalf of all of you, whereby together we contributed, comforted, helped… not only to a more beautiful holiday, but also to the belief that the “human” in people has not died out after all… because JOY GROWS BY GIVING.
