Pupils IX. grade  with   This school year they have been involved in the Saffron Project, which is organised in collaboration with the Holocaust Education Trust Ireland- HETI (Holocaust Education Trust Ireland- HETI) and with the Museum of  Jewish Culture in Bratislava. During the implementation of the project  with  Pupils will study the Holocaust once a month in history lessons. Pupils’ knowledge  and experience  s <\/wbr>project will be shared on the website  The Crocus Club on Facebook, which is managed by the HETI Foundation. <\/p>\n

We plant yellow saffron to remember the one and a half million Jewish children who died during the Holocaust. The yellow colour of the flowers reminds us of the yellow star that Jews were forced to wear under the Nazis. The flowers remind us of all the children who died. Saffron flowers bloom in late January or early February in time for International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January). <\/p>\n

The Saffron Project: commemorating the Holocaust and lessons for contemporary Europe<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>reflects the principles and values of the European Union. These are based on human rights and the rule of law and require respect for all EU citizens, regardless of their ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or religion. The European Union has put in place measures to protect all EU citizens from harming or being harmed by others. The Saffron Project is about Holocaust remembrance and education, as well as raising awareness of the dangers of hatred, discrimination and prejudice. <\/p>\n

We hope that one day, children from all over the world will plant yellow saffrons in memory of the children who died during the Holocaust. <\/p>\n
